Burgh by Sands village lies within the Solway area of outstanding natural beauty and is 1 mile north of Bramble Beck Park. The village pub, The Greyhound Inn, serves superb food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Incidentally, this is where Kind Edward the 1st died on his way to war against the Scots in 1307. There is a statue of the king next to The Greyhound Inn.
Bramble Beck is ideally located only a short drive from Junction 44 so ideal for visiting the historic city of Carlisle, with its Cathedral and famous Tullie House Museum or Salmon fishing in the Eden.
A great base to explore the Lake District and the Solway Coast. Not forgetting the Romans Hadrian’s Wall country and the Scottish Borders.
Lake District
The Lake District is just 35 minutes from Bramble Beck Park and is a truly awe inspiring place with its crystal clear lakes, tarns and waters, beautiful hills and valleys, as well as its small towns and villages built in slate and real stone.
Scottish Borders
Discover another pace of life amid the valleys, forests and heather clad moorlands of the borders. With a wealth of beauty and history, this part of the UK is almost a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.
Carlisle
The ancient border city of Carlisle is 10 minutes away and provides a wonderful shopping experience. Carlisle Castle also stands in the corner of town and is still an impressive sight after 900 years of service as an important defending fort, which has seen many battles.
The Solway Coast
The Solway Coast is a beautiful, untouched piece of coastline where the beaches are very quiet and peaceful. There you will find the old towns of Port Carlisle, Silloth and Maryport, as well as the small village of Allonby, where you can grab an ice cream and enjoy the view over the Solway to Scotland.
Hadrian’s Wall Trails
For any keen walker or cyclist both Hadrian’s Wall trail and cycleway can be accessed from about 1 mile away from Bramble Beck Park.
